Body lift surgery

Body lift surgery is a procedure that removes unwanted, excess skin usually resulting from extreme weight loss. It can also be performed on those with sagging skin due to the aging process or pregnancy. A full body lift addresses every area of the body that commonly accumulates fat and extra skin. Body lifts can be also divided into three regions-upper, mid, and lower-depending on where the excess fat and skin is most severe.

During an initial consultation with Dr Daiza, a double board certified plastiuc surgeon, patients will be able to learn which type of body lift surgery is right for them. A lower body lift addresses the buttocks, hips and thighs, and can include a tummy tuck. An upper body lift addresses the breasts and the arms, and can include the abdomen. Many patients find that after dramatic weight loss, a full body lift is needed.

Body lift surgery can take anywhere from 4-8 hours, and is performed under a general anesthetic. Typically, total body lift surgery is broken into multiple surgeries, often first performed on the abdomen, followed by the legs, arms, and breast areas. Recovery time varies, but a patient is usually able to return to work within 2-4 weeks after surgery.
